Board Games
In our grade we have been making board games because we are studying procedural texts. First of all we partnered up and brain stormed what our games would be about. Then we had to type up the instructions that we had come up with. Once we had printed our instructions we started designing our boards. Some people made characters, some coloured in and some made extra things to go on their board.
I was partnered up with Jasmin and our game is called Quick Pics! We have 6 small characters, fake money and flaps that tell you what pictures to find on the board. Other people had exercise activities, houses and even whales!!! Once you had finished your game you got into a small group and tested your game.

Bounce Back!
Every week Grade 3 /4 has Bounce Back! with Mrs. Donaldson and it is really fun. What we do in Bounce Back! is we talk about ‘unslumping’ and we share some changes in our lives and how we can get our mind off it. What is unslumping? Unslumping is when you are upset and you need to find a way out of your ‘slump’. For example you could go to your bedroom and listen to some music, or you could go outside and do some active activities.

Gardening
On Friday the 30th July all the Grade 3s and 4s did some gardening on the bank of the oval. If you had a small gardening folk or shovel you could pick out weeds. If you had just gloves you could move rocks from the bank to the sanctuary. I was moving rocks. On Friday the 6th of August all the Grade 3s and 4s will do planting on the bank of the bottom oval.

On Friday the 3s and 4s did some gardening. Some people pulled weeds out and the others picked rocks up. Next Friday we will plant some trees and it will be so much fun. Jiah and Lachlan came around and emptied the buckets for us. It was lots of fun.

Interschool Cross Country
Some of our grade recently went to the Loddon Campaspe Interschool Cross Country. Here are some photos from the day.
On Friday 28th of May it was the Zone Cross Country. People from lots of schools came. The highest age level was under 13s. The lowest was under 8s. It was a great day and some people are going to the State finals from our school. Yay! I think I will go again sometime to the zone cross country because it was awesome! By Willow
The cross country was really tiring because it was a long way. I had to run 2km and it was challenging. There were a lot of people in my age group. I came 11th in Under 10 Red Girls. I got mud all the down my legs because we had to run through muddy puddles. This was my first time running in the zone cross country and I’m proud of myself. By Becky
At the cross country I had a lot of fun. When I was running I started to run with Jacob Schober. When I was nearly going to finish Jacob sprinted past me and beat me by three places. It was very muddy and very wet. I was in red group, but I passed some blue runners. By Jed

Tiny Teams
Grade 3/4 were donated a Tiny Teams football game from TonzSportz. You can make your own football match and set up marks, kicks, handballs and tackles. It comes with umpires, players, oval, goals and footballs. Our grade likes to play with it on wet day timetables.

Activities were held throughout the morning so existing and potential new families could see some of the wonderful programs we do here at Spring Gully P.S. Activities included ‘Big Book’ experiences, interactive whiteboard use, Smartkiddies, Murder Under the Microscope, shared reading, Toolbox Parenting, our school sanctuary, Mandala Garden, Discovery Learning, Mathematics activities, specialist programs at work and the school choir (photo).

Grade 3 Sovereign Hill Excursion
On Friday we went to Sovereign Hill. When we got there we were early so had our snack. When it opened, we went gold panning. I didn’t find any gold.
We went to the Chinese camp next. There were Chinese people. A man gave me a paper charm. We went down Main Street and looked at a few shops until the red coats came and celebrated wins at war.
We went to the cottage and saw how they lived in the gold fields. We went down Red Hill Mine, and then we went and had lunch. We went to the gold smelter ing and saw gold being made into a shape. Some people got to hold it. On the way home we watched Shrek 2. We got home at 5:00pm.

At Sovereign Hill it was cold! We went in a mine and it was fun and we saw the Welcome Nugget.
We went in an olden day’s school. It was made from stuff they use today, but it had olden day stuff in it. Some people got to dress up.
Some people found gold, but I did not. We got to walk around and look at the houses. We got to look at shops with friends. There was a lolly shop and it was so cool.
